The Price

The price is a series of drawings I'm currently working on, my first Series! It's mainly about fairies and their way of life and it's contrast with the scene projected . So far I've only completed one drawing in the series, The price 01 (fun), which depicts my concepts of fun. In the drawing two fairies are mesmerized by the the beauty, complexity and the potential promise of 'fun' the bicycle holds. A very basic scene only the fairies don't want to be seen by humans, but while lost in the moment one sneaks up on them. Also I'm sure any one who has ever learnt how to ride a bicycle know how many scares you could get, look closer and you'll see one of the fairy's wing stuck in the chain. This is the sad part, this is the price they paid.
Currently I'm working on the second piece in the series, I call it The price 02 ignorance. Still in this drawing there are two fairies dancing together, unaware of the sniper who is too focused on his mark to see the fairies beneath his gun, too focused... He doesn't even know there's another sniper in the distance aiming right for his head. I want this piece to remind people to always look around, apreciate your surroundings, cherish each moment, you never know what a waits for you.
The price is not meant to be a sad series. No it's actually meant to show that nothing is truly free and most times we don't appreciate the times we are allowed to not pay for them. Other than The price 01 (fun) all the fairies are smiling, laughing, in all they are happy, because they've come to terms with the price, they realize that everything is fleeting and the only thing truly eternal are the memories we take with us.
